About Nancy

I’m Nancy Colburn, a wife, mother, and advocate for people with ADHD.

While I don’t have ADHD myself, I’m very aware of how diverse ADHD brains are. People with ADHD are deep thinkers, so creative, intense, interesting, funny, and empathetic. They can very quickly come up with solutions to issues that stymy most people. They’re often energetic, intensely focused on their favorite subjects, very curious, and full of random information. There’s rarely a dull moment when ADHD people are around.

Besides personal experience with ADHD in my own family, I’ve also spent several years as a substitute para-educator and classroom aide, so I understand the dynamics and impact of the education system on ADHD students. When my son was diagnosed in third grade, I started a parent support group to connect with other parents raising ADHD kids. That group has grown to over 1900 members in our Facebook group who support each other with resources, strategies, and hope. Through this group, I periodically host in-person community meetings with local experts who talk to parents about ADHD topics such as IEP/504 plans, anxiety and depression, behavioral challenges, toolbox strategies, diet, medication, and more. It’s been a labor of love for me to help others have a better experience managing their ADHD. Becoming an ADHD coach has strengthened my skills to help others achieve confidence and success with ADHD.

I’m a certified ADHD coach through ADDCA and ICF, and I’m a member of CHADD, ACO, and ADDA.
